Call for Papers – RAILS 2026
- Theme: New ideas, new beginnings

The 2026 RAILS conference will be hosted by the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, Adelaide University, and held at the Hawke Building, City West Campus, Adelaide, South Australia from 1-3 December 2026.
The conference will include:
- the Australasian Information Educators’ Symposium 2026 (AIES 2026) on the morning of Tuesday, 1 December;
- a Doctoral Consortium on Tuesday, 1 December; and
- the formal RAILS conference on Tuesday, 1 December through Thursday, 3 December, 2026.
Academics, research students and practitioners are encouraged to submit papers on the conference theme, New Ideas, New Beginnings. The conference aims to highlight the breadth and diversity of library and information studies. We welcome submissions across a wide range of topics, including professional practice, community engagement, knowledge organisation, literacy and reading cultures, archives and records management, digital inclusion, leadership, and innovative service delivery. While emerging technologies remain an important area of discussion, we particularly encourage contributions that explore the broader professional, social, and cultural dimensions of library and information work.
Proposals for full papers and doctoral consortium papers (20 minutes with 10 minutes for Q&A) are invited,as well as panel discussions (30 minutes including Q &A) and posters showcasing works in progress or completed research projects. Abstracts for AIES and RAILS should include implications for practice, and research-focused papers should identify key learning for practice. The closing date for all submissions is 20 July 2026. Acceptance notifications will be Friday, 1 September 2026.

Doctoral Consortium Papers
Abstracts of 500 words must be submitted through Easy Chair by 20 July 2026. These should provide a brief overview of the nature of the project (research problem, methodology/method, theoretical framework, etc.), and a description of their intended presentation. Please see the Easy Chair Submission Instructions for details, prior to submitting your abstract to the system.
